Tad Boyle and the Colorado Buffaloes didn't need to look far to fill their final roster spot.

Bangot Dak, a 6-foot-9, 185-pound forward from Lincoln Southeast High School in Nebraska, made it official last week by committing to CU. He joins the Buffs 2023 recruiting class along with McDonald's All-American Cody Williams. Dak turned down offers from Nebraska and Iowa State to come to Boulder.

"Being recruited really hard by the CU coaching staff was a really big factor," Dak said in an interview with BuffsBeat. "And obviously, Boulder is a beautiful place to be."

Boyle's persistence was key to bringing Dak to the Buffs. He admired how well the pseudo-big man worked the floor and hustled. A quality most all of Tad's recruits have shown throughout the years. Also, Dak is leaving a "sea of red" behind him to be at Colorado.

"(Tad) noticed my versatility on both sides of the floor. He compared it a lot to guys they had like Jabari Parker and even Tristan da Silva," Dak said. "He feels that creates a lot of mismatches and space on the floor being able to stretch out to the perimeter or make something happen inside. I'm also able to defend on the perimeter and block shots at a high level."

Dak is ready to witness the same energy the football program has garnered over the past few months. He hopes Tad's Buffs can match the electricity happening toward the opposite side of campus. Not to mention, coming from a place like Nebraska, Dak knows what that looks like.

"It'll bring a little excitement especially during football season, but I'm hoping our basketball team is making all the noise and bringing all the excitement around CU."

Dak averaged 11.8 points and 9.8 rebounds while at LSHS. He'll likely redshirt next season, leaving TCU transfer Eddie Lampkin Jr., Assane Diop, and Tristan da Silva as the main contributors to CU's front court.
