Following their first losses of the season last week, the Colorado Buffaloes Men’s & Women’s basketball teams each saw a dip in the latest rankings.

Ranked No. 18 last week, Tad Boyle’s program went 2-1 and as a result, fell out of this week’s AP Men’s Top 25. After defeating Richmond on Monday, Colorado (6-1) followed that up with a 77-71 overtime loss to Florida State in Tuesday’s Sunshine Slam finale. It was their first loss of the season. Sunday, the Buffaloes rebounded with an 85-68 victory over Iona.

Colorado was one of 23 teams outside the Top 25 to receive votes (70) in the poll. Next up for the Buffaloes is a tilt with No. 20 Colorado State Wednesday night in Fort Collins.

On the women’s side, Colorado dropped four spots from No. 3 into a tie at No.7 with LSU in the latest AP Top 25. JR Payne’s squad upset then No. 1 LSU earlier this month to open their 2023-’24 campaign. Colorado (6-1) won two games last week but is coming off a 78-60 defeat to then No. 10 NC State in Saturday’s Paradise Jam Finale.

The Buffaloes are one of five Pac-12 teams – No. 2 UCLA, No. 3 Stanford, No. 6 USC and No. 12 Utah – ranked in this week’s poll. Colorado will look to turn it around as they host Boston University on Tuesday night at the CU Events Center.
