Doryan Onwuchekwa won't be playing for Tad Boyle next year. The four-star recruit who committed to the CU men's basketball program three months ago was released from his letter of intent, per an announcement on Friday.

The 6-foot-10 center most-recently played at the Faith Family Academy in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas. He received the offer from CU last June and made it official months later. Buffs Head Coach Tad Boyle issued the following statement after Onwucheckwa’s release.

“Colorado basketball and Doryan  Onwuchekwa have mutually agreed to part ways. The University of Colorado basketball program will grant Doryan a complete release from his National Letter of Intent. Doryan and Colorado basketball wish each other the best.”

Onwuchekwa echoed a similar message on his X (Formerly Twitter) account.

The release of Onwucheckwa leaves only three members in the signed class for 2024. The remaining players are four-star guard Andrew Crawford from Colorado, three-star shooting guard Felix Kossaras from Canada and three-star power forward Sebastian Rancik from California. No word on where Onwucheckwa might land before next year.
