The Colorado Buffaloes went down to Dallas and came away with an 84-69 win over the SMU Mustangs on Saturday night.

Aaronette Vonleh led the Buffs with 23 points and Quay Miller added a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. They were joined by Jaylyn Sherrod, who made history as the fourth player in CU history to have over 1,000 career points and 500 career assists. She finished with 18 points on the night.

The Lady Buffs jumped out to a sizable lead and never looked back in the second half. However, it was a junkyard dog fight between the Buffs and Mustangs all the way to the end.

"It was a really physical, really tough game," CU coach JR Payne said in the postgame press conference. "This was a tough one to come into SMU and get the win. I'm really proud of how we competed tonight."

A great team win for the Buffs, who couldn't find a consistent streak from beyond the arc, shooting 5-for-23 from 3-point range on the night. They didn't need it with 46 points in the paint to make up the difference.

"We really trust each other, and that's really important when you're in tough games on the road," Payne noted. "When we trust that someone is going to deliver the pass on time and on target. We trust someone's going to have the right screening angel or box out on a free-throw line or execute defensively. All those things come down to being ultimately very connected, which is why I think we play good basketball together."

SMU's Tiara Young led all scorers with 30 points. She was one of two Mustangs in double figures with Chantae Embry, adding 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Colorado heads to the Caribbean for the Paradise Jam Classic on Monday. They'll play Cincinnati, Kentucky, and No. 14 NC State in sequential order starting on Thursday. CU looks to continue their hot streak, having scored 80+ points in all four games.
