Colorado women’s basketball tops Cincinnati 77-60 in Paradise Jam
In the first game back after a five-day hiatus, the Colorado Buffaloes women’s basketball team traveled to the Virgin Islands. Coach JR Payne expressed hope that her team would be able to rise to the occasion. Message received and she got her wish.
Tamera Sadler led the way with 15 points. Aaronette Vonleh added 13 points and 5 rebounds. Kindyll Wetta and Maddie Nolan were clutch off the bench scoring 14 and 8 respectively.
"I thought we played great for three quarters, which is fine," JR Payne expressed. "The goal is always to play great for four quarters and all 40 minutes. There are definitely some areas to improve there in the last quarter. It was great that we didn't have to play heavy minutes with the back-to-back-to-back games, and I was really pleased…I think Cincinnati is a good team. They're tough and fearless. They did a lot of great things. I think they banked four 3-pointers, so they shot the ball a lot better than usual. We have to make sure that we make those adjustments."
The Buffs faces Kentucky on Friday. It will be their second game in the divisional at the Paradise Jam before a tilt with No. 10 NC State on Sunday.
