JR Payne and the Colorado Buffaloes women’s basketball program won’t have their leading scorer returning next season.

Aaronette Vonleh, who averaged 14 points per game during the 2023-’24 season, will enter the transfer portal as first reported Monday by TXH reporter Talia Goodman.

A 6’3 center from West Linn, Ore., Vonleh was an integral part of a Colorado team that made back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances. She originally signed with Arizona out of high school but transferred to Colorado following her freshman season with the Wildcats. In her first season in Boulder, the sophomore averaged 12.2 points per game and finished second in the Pac-12 with a 58.5 field-goal percentage.

Vonleh began her 2023-’24 campaign dropping a season-high 24 points in Colorado’s 92-78 win over defending national champion LSU. She saw action in all 34 games the Buffaloes played and led the team in points per game (14.0), field goal percentage (54.9%) and blocks per game (1.1).

Coach Prime's daughter, Shelomi Sanders, enters transfer portal at Colorado

She's currently the seventh Colorado player to enter the transfer portal, joining the likes of
Brianna McLeod, Mikayla Johnson, and Jadyn Atchison. The Buffaloes are also losing five players to graduation including starters Jaylyn Sherrod, Quay Miller, and Maddie Nolan.

Payne had 17 players on the 2023-’34 roster and following Vonleh’s departure, it appears that only four – Frida Foremann, Kennedy Sanders, Sara-Rose Smith and Kindyll Wetta – will be back next season. It’s still uncertain whether guard Tameiya Sadler will be returning to Boulder.
