Deion Sanders offers encouragement to Trey Lance
For all the Trey Lance detractors, there are still many people in football who believe he can succeed.
You can count Coach Prime among those who have faith that Lance can thrive in the right opportunity.
“You gotta keep your head up, you gotta hold on. Stand firm and work on your game. If you truly believe you got it, invest in it,” said Deion Sanders while appearing as a guest on the Zach Gelb Show.
Sanders went on to say, “I believe in the kid, I think he has it, he just has to put it to work and put it to use consistently. But you can’t count yourself out as you never know how life, or this game evolves.”
Gelb, who hosts a daily program on CBS Sports Radio, interviewed Sanders prior to the Trey Lance trade was announced.
In a rather serendipitous moment, Gelb also asked Coach Prime his thoughts on Dak Prescott.
“I like Dak, I think he’s a proven winner. I just want that whole team to go to the next level.”
The Cowboys acquired Lance for 2024 4th round draft pick.
Lance has struggled in limited opportunities in the NFL, but found great success at North Dakota State. In addition to winning two national championships, he won the Jerry Rice Award as the most outstanding freshman in FCS College Football for 2019.
Shedeur Sanders also won the same award in 2021.
Lance’s father, Carlton, was on the training camp roster for the 49ers in 1994. That team, which included Deion Sanders, would go on and win Super Bowl 29.
