Everything Oregon State Head Coach Jonathan Smith said about Colorado
Oregon’s State Head Coach met with media earlier this week. He’s most certainly not taking the Buffs lightly. While addressing Colorado’s recent losing streak, Jonathan Smith was quick to point out just how competitive many of the losses have been and how dangerous the Buffs can be if everything comes together for four quarters.
On bouncing back after their second loss:
We got to reload..we do. We got to go back to work, just like every week in this conference. We have another big time opponent. It’s a tough place to play. This team is playing at a high level.
His thoughts on Colorado and their recent struggles:
I think that team battles and I don’t go to the extent of struggling. This league is tough and competitive they have been competitive throughout, dramatically different from last year. This is a good football team. They can score in bunches. One of the best quarterbacks we’re going to play. Defensively they’re flying around. The home atmosphere they create, you can just see it on tape, it’s a tough place.
On Shedeur and offensive line
What I see is a quarterback that can spread you out and make you pay. The ball can come out quick. They’re just coming off a game against a really good, I mean we faced their defensive line at UCLA, they make a lot of people struggle with some of the talent got. These guys are solid on offense and Shedeur is a tough accurate athletic competitive quarterback that we’re facing.
On Travis Hunter:
He’s a gifted player. Instinctive, really smart. Understands the coverage. Got great ball skills. They caused four turnovers in the first half against UCLA. This is a good team, competitive. These games are tough across the board and they have been in the thick of it in about every game they played.
I think on one of the interceptions, he was sitting there in a cloud corner and he’s jumping an inside route. Baiting the quarterback the second time with his length. Got great ball skills.
Anything unique about this game?
What’s unique is this is going to be the only game we’re going to play on grass, on our schedule. And that’s a little bit different. We played a night game at UW and the place was jumping pretty good. So we’re expecting a raucous, tough crowd.
