Brett McMurphy says Big 12 targeting Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah to join Colorado for a 16-team conference

The Big 12 isn't done adding and are looking at three additional Pac-12 schools, according to Action Network's Brett McMurphy.

The famed college football writer who broke details on Colorado's move back to the their original conference talked to BuffsBeat on Thursday afternoon at Big Ten Media Day. McMurphy went into detail about the latest news and what to expect in the coming weeks.

A short list of institutions that includes both Arizona and Arizona State, along with Utah are on the Big 12 radar. If all the three aren't willing to exit the Pac-12, they would be eyeing a select few in the a group of five.

Colorado has a press conference scheduled for Thursday at 5 p.m. MT to announce the move to the Big 12. A decision that secures $31.8 million in 2024 for CU.

The Pac-12 has yet to publically announce any details on a new media right deal. However, some sources with direct knowledge have said the conference wouldn't be offering schools more than $23 million per year.

It sounds like a wild realignment ride is about to happen. Buckle up and enjoy the excitement.
