Colorado's Shedeur Sanders steals the show at National Championship Media Day
Shedeur Sanders was on hand for the National Championship festivities in Houston on Saturday and quickly became the center of attention. The Colorado Buffaloes standout answered an array of questions and reportedly had an hour-long line for a meet and greet session. A huge show of support for the "Grown" QB in his home state.
Sanders was one of the few college football stars invited to be part of AT&T's Media Day. He was at NRG Stadium alongside all the players and coaches participating in Monday's National Championship, including Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, Washington's Heisman runner-up Michael Penix, Jr., and others. It's a testament to the effect Coach Prime and Colorado have on college football with a strong national presence.
The Buffs ended last year on a subpar note with Sanders forced out due to a fractured back. He set CU's single-season passing mark with 3,230 yards, despite being sacked 52 times and missing the final six quarters of the season. Add that to a total of 31 TDs and 3 INTs. Not to mention, Sanders stayed consistent with Sean Lewis and Pat Shurmur juggling offensive coordinator duties throughout the year.
Colorado went out and improved the offensive line via the transfer portal. Sanders even recruited top lineman Jordan Seaton, who will be a huge force to anchor the Buffs' protection efforts upfront. Overall, CU looks to be much improved on paper from last year. Coach Prime and his staff will have a different approach heading into the Big 12 conference come April.
Sanders is noted as an early 2024 Heisman favorite, along with his top target Travis Hunter. The duo is also expected to make waves on the national scene as the top NIL earners.
