Deion Sanders should've taken Anthony Anderson up on his offer

Coach Prime could've used Double-A out on the field on Friday night

The Colorado Buffaloes letdown against Stanford was unexpected, but nonetheless, it's time to move on. Among the celebrities on the sidelines to witness CU's historic loss was Anthony Anderson.

The Emmy-nominated actor and game show host was asked by Thee Pregame Show if he was going to suit up for the Buffaloes. In retrospect, the irony of his response is somewhat comical.

"You know, I asked coach if he wanted me to suit up today. He was like, "You know what, Ant, I'll let you know at halftime, but we're good for right now." I'll be stretching."

In all seriousness, Anderson was also asked about diabetes awareness. He's one of the most outspoken on the subject and has used his celebrity to spread the word, especially in the Black community. It's a topic that is near and dear to Deion Sanders' heart. His daughter, Shelomi, who's part of CU Lady Buffs basketball, is managing her diabetes and has become an advocate for awareness to the younger generation.

“My message is to take care of yourself,” Anderson said. “Go to the doctor. Get checked out. Do what you’re supposed to do. Everything is okay in moderation. But we got to make those steps and be disciplined in what we do.”

He went on to say, “We want Black folks to live. We want everybody to live, but in particular, Black folks, especially with diabetes.” In 2022, African-Americans were three times more likely to be hospitalized with diabetes and associated long-term complications.

Anderson and Cedric the Entertainer were promoting the upcoming season of 'Kings of BBQ' on A&E. They made the trip to Seattle for ESPN's College GameDay hours after leaving Boulder.
