Deion Sanders to College Football Playoff: "Would you leave me out?" says CU is 'Box office'

Coach Prime knows Colorado would bring the 'Prime Effect' to the Playoff
In this story:

Deion Sanders has a hard time believing the Colorado Buffaloes would be held out of the College Football Playoff, if they were in a position to compete for a national championship.

Coach Prime went on the record with ESPN's Stephen A. Smith in a recent interview and air out his thoughts. He expressed his respect for FSU's Mike Norvell, but questioned if the outcome would be the same if his team was in the same position.

"Coach Norvell coached his butt off and we can't take nothing away from him," Sanders said.  "But the real question that you have is would you leave me out of the college playoffs?" He went on to say, "Ain't no way in the world. We're box office. You got to see this unless you're crazy. I wish I had the problems that coach Norvell has."

Prime has admiration for Norvell and Florida State, unlike a coach from Fort Collins with the same surname. What happened this year was the scenario the College Football Playoff committee has been dreading for years. However, it's the setup with five top conference and four spots available to fill. In previous seasons, November upsets have occurred and playoff selection chaos was often avoided. This year, not so much.

That was the point Coach Prime was making, but with a 12-team playoff won't be a issue in the future. This was not a shot at Florida State. The Seminoles were robbed, but you can make the case the Georgia Bulldogs and Ohio State Buckeyes were as well. It wasn't to the same degree as an undefeated team being left on the outside. It would be crazy to suggest that any of those teams couldn’t win out in a four team playoff.

Colorado will most certainly be in the hunt for one of several bids awarded to the Big 12 next season. Coach Prime and the Buffs are hoping to be one of those making noise all the way to Dallas for a conference championship bid next season.
