Deion Sanders uses Brock Purdy for epic recruiting pitch, immediately stops after realizing it's a dead period

Coach Prime admires Mr. Irrelevant for his drive to the Super Bowl

When Brock Purdy's name was the last one called out in the 2022 NFL Draft, there was no telling how his career would be transformed in a short amount of time. The former Iowa State standout is 'Mr. Irrelevant no more' after leading the San Francisco 49ers to Super Bowl 58. He caught the attention of the world and has a football GOAT shouting his name from the rooftops.

Deion Sanders praised Purdy for his accomplishments on the field, calling it the best story in more than two decades while on ESPN's First Take on Thursday.

"Coming from the last player taken and lead his team to the Super Bowl because of his play.... I love this kid," Sanders said. "I mean, shoot, I'm looking for a Brock Purdy. I can't recruit... It's a dead period."

What made for a hilarious moment with Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe seemed to be Coach Prime self-reporting a violation to the NCAA. However, you can't knock Sanders' "never stop working" mindset when it comes to finding the best talent. One day after Colorado pulled in the best combined class in decades.

As for Purdy, he'll try to come out on top with the odds stacked against him. There has never been a Super Bowl starting QB to claim the title of Mr. Irrelevant. And come Sunday, he'll be in a class all his own. More than half of the players picked last never see the field in the NFL, let alone play a critical role in their team's success.

Purdy and the Niners face two-time MVP Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday, February 11, 2024. Eight-time Grammy Award-winning recording artist Usher will preform the Apple Music halftime show.
