Deion Sanders warns players to come together or tap out and get replaced

Coach Prime wants to see more unity from the Buffaloes

The Colorado Buffaloes might be early in the offseason but they're pushing hard to get better now. Deion Sanders and his staff brought in the Marines for a second workout on campus this week. Needless to say, the conditioning drills have stepped up a couple notches from their first visit. However, there was a lack of camaraderie and unity, which was something Coach Prime addressed in the weight room on Thursday. He told his team to start becoming a better unit or hit the transfer portal.

"I need y'all to get together and unite," Sanders said via Well Off Media. "I'm tired of y'all at the breakfast table and lunch table or dinner table with your phones. We got five cats that are on the phone. Nobody is talking. Don't even know each other. Your group should know each other." He went on to say, "Get off the darn phones and learn your teammates."

Sanders made it clear he was looking for Leaders and Dawgs on this team. One of the toughest things about putting together a roster with new talent is figuring out strengths and weaknesses on the fly. The Buffs are doing it all over again. It's not a complete overhaul, but a total of 30 new players coming in and a new group of starters along the offensive line will take an adjustment period.

If there was one message that was said loud and clear by Sanders, it was that some of the players need to start buying into the program. "We got to get better. Quit slacking. Quit just being in here getting by," Sanders said. "If you want to tap out, go ahead and tap out... So, we can replace you right now."

Colorado is in the midst of offseason workout and less than a week away from National Signing Day. Coach Prime said he was still searching for additional linebackers and surveying a few other positions. All of this leading up to the Spring Game on April 27 in Boulder.
