Deiondra Sanders tells Coach Prime she likes "Cool Daddy," not Joe Jackson
Deion Sanders recently made a brief trip to his old stomping grounds. He was in Atlanta as part of a charity event for The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children's Healthcare.
While Coach Prime was there to personally raise over $110K for the hospital, he also got to spend some time with his oldest daughter, Deiondra, who lives in the Peachtree State. They found themselves in the midst of a conversation about Prime's parenting style and what makes him "Cool Daddy" on the block.
"I had to be Joe Jackson," Sanders admitted. "Not everybody knows Joe Jackson, but we know all the Jacksons."
Sanders then was taken back to coaching his kids during their youth. Deiondra explained how he wasn't hip and fun until later in life. But Prime wasn't going for that and completely disagreed with the notion of being a fresh parent.
"I don't want to be a cool daddy. I want to be daddy, daddy," Sanders told his daughter. She had a quick reply by saying, "With the way you treated me and my other siblings and me and Bucky and all them. They get cool, fun 'you'. We get Joe Jackson 'you'."
Prime reminded Deiondra there was never a "Jackson-like" environment at the Sanders' household. It was nothing but love between the two. Sanders was blessed to be back in the city he once built, even if it was only for 12 hours. It was a change of pace with Deiondra usually making her way out to Boulder. She was a regular notable on the sideline this past season to cheer on her brothers and the rest of the Buffs.
Sanders enjoys some much-needed downtime before spring practices in Boulder. He'll have a busy rest of the off-season with a book release in March, along with Colorado's official transition to the Big 12 conference to kick off his second season in the Power Five. It all starts with Signing Day on February 7th to cap off the Buffaloes roster.
