Tom Osborne believes Colorado was in a volatile situation with Pac-12
Tom Osborne knows a bit about football having been around the game over the past seven decades. It's hard to believe, but he played in the NFL prior to the Super Bowl era.
The Nebraska legend was recently asked to weigh in on Deion Sanders' transition to Colorado when he joined Adam Carriker on "The People's Show Carriker Chronicles." The 86-year-old sounded a bit skeptical on how to evaluate CU given the number of players coming via the transfer portal and the scheduled move to the Big 12 in 2024.
"I know that (Deion) has lost a lot of players and brought a lot of players in. I guess you would wonder a little bit. With that amount of turnover, is that going to be good or not so good," Osborne wondered? "Obviously, it's what he thinks he needs to do. (There's) a lot of change. A lot of volatility. He does have a track record down at Jackson State. I'm assuming he is a good coach.
Osborne went on to say, "Colorado's in a little bit of a volatile situation right now" regarding an uncertain future.
The former Nebraska coach spent a total of 41 years in Lincoln before stepping away ten years ago. Osborne won three national championships at the tail end of his Hall of Fame coaching career.
Colorado faces Nebraska on Sept. 9 in Boulder. A renewal of the Big Eight rivalry with the Buffaloes taking home wins in the previous two meetings. It's also the first time Sanders and Nebraska coach Matt Rhule go head-to-head as first-year head coaches at their respective institutions.
