Two former Heisman winners visit Deion Sanders at Colorado

The Colorado Buffaloes welcomed two former Heisman winners to campus on Wednesday. One of the best two-way players to ever play football and a running back with a lot of versatility. None other than Desmond Howard and Mark Ingram.

The now rival broadcasters took in the sights and sounds of CU's practice. They were in awe of how Sanders started to build his program up with less than a full year on the books.

Desmond Howard revolutionized the game in the 90s. He was dangerous on both sides of the ball for Michigan and now sees Colorado's Travis Hunter trying to follow in his footsteps. It's a passing of the torch between one generation to the next, as the Buffs playmaker shocked the masses with his outstanding abilities. Hunter will look to beat Howard's marks. Michigan's two-way Heisman winner had 5,392 yards from scrimmage with 35 total touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

ESPN is scheduled to air next week's Rocky Mountain Showdown with Colorado State. No word if Howard and the entire College GameDay crew will be coming to Boulder for the in-state rivalry.

As for Ingram, the former Alabama standout who recently joined the FOX College Football crew, had a lot to critique with Colorado boasting one of the best running back rooms in the nation. CU true freshman Dylan Edwards accounted for 11 touches with 159 total yards and four touchdowns out of the backfield vs. TCU, earning Doak Walker Player of the Week honors.

Ingram takes on a new chapter in his career. At Alabama, he rushed for 3,261 yards and scored 46 touchdowns in three years. He earned the Heisman before helping the Tide win a BCS National Champion in 2009. He spent 12 years in the NFL most-notably with the New Orleans Saints before retiring in 2022.

Ingram and the rest of the FOX team will be at Folsom Field this weekend. No. 22 Colorado meets Nebraska for the Big Noon Saturday feature. It's a renewal of the former Big Eight rivalry.
