Deion Sanders needs "Leaders and Dawgs" against Nebraska

Let’s take a look at all the possible Leaders and Dawgs for Colorado's home opener

As we learned last week, Deion Sanders doesn't believe in captains. There are only Leaders and Dawgs for the Colorado Buffaloes' Prime era.

Shedeur Sanders and Shane Cokes came out against TCU with the L's on their jerseys. While Jace Feely and Travis Hunter were sporting the D's for dawgs.

There’s no doubt that all four are more than worthy to maintain those titles this weekend, but let’s take a look at some other players whose status could be elevated before Nebraska rolls into Folsom Field.

Honorable Leader: Myles Slusher

Slusher will miss this week’s game and might be out longer than originally suspected. Coach Prime hinted at a possible upcoming surgery. He racked up six tackles, including a gigantic fourth down stop to seal the Buffs win. Whether he’s in uniform of not, he should wearing an 'L' on Saturday.

Leader: Trevor Woods

When Coach Prime dared last year’s returning players to jump in the transfer portal, Woods did the opposite. He outworked everyone, including those brought in to replace him. The Katy, Texas native earned respect from coaches and all his teammates. A huge early interception set the tone for the day.

Dawg: Jordan Domineck

Four tackles and an unreal spin move pass rush on TCU’s final offensive play. He looked Reggie White just embarrassing Frogs left tackle, Andrew Coker, who’s also a 2024 NFL Draft prospect.

Dawg: Michael Harrison

The stat sheet says just two catches for 12 yards, but that only tells a small part of the story. He blocked well throughout the game and a had a key catch to keep a scoring drive alive.

Leader: Dylan Edwards

I never expected to name a freshman a leader this early in the season, but here we are. Just an unbelievable debut for the former Kansas HS Gatorade Player of the Year. He has it all.

Leaders: Jimmy Horn Jr. and Xavier Weaver

Where would this team be without these two? They believe! If Coach had chosen another school, I feel like they would likely be there instead. These guys are simply game changers.

Dawgs: Offensive Line

It was a challenge all day long but the continuity of run and pass blocking was exceptional. It’s not supposed to look that easy in the first game playing together.

Leaders: Defensive Line

The only chance Nebraska has on Saturday is a successful ground game, especially on first and second down. I’d mark them all as leaders because they need to be this week. Every linemen upfront needs to give a little more. As Sanders said, this is personal. Make it that way.
