Coach Prime says Shedeur Sanders received halftime injection for pain
Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders received an injection at halftime against UCLA on Saturday night, according to coach Deion Sanders. It was administered so he could “block” the pain, but Coach Prime didn't elaborate on the type of injection.
Sanders addressed the need for better play from CU's offensive line several times during his 20-minute postgame press conference at the Rose Bowl. Shedeur was sacked seven times and put on the ground another dozen times. It was a battering effort by the Bruins defense, which was among the most consistent to face Colorado this season.
“Offensively we’ve gotta improve, you see that," Sanders said. (Shedeur) is taking a beating. He got an injection at halftime. I probably shouldn’t tell you that, but you know I’m 100. Just to block some of the pain. So, I’m going to give him the next few days off so he can at least be mobile because I know once that block is off, he’s going to feel it tonight.
"We’ve gotta do a better job of protecting him," Sanders added.
The focus this entire next week for Colorado will be how the team gets better across the offensive line. It's a unit that has dealt with injuries but struggles with depth. At this point, Deion and his staff might want to survey who's around campus. I hate to say it, but there might be better "protectors" elsewhere. Shedeur can't continue to be banged up and take blow after blow with lingering effects.
