The Big 12 will compete as a 16-team conference for the first time in 2024.

Colorado will be one of the four Pac-12 teams joining the conference this year, along with Arizona, Arizona State and Utah. Texas and Oklahoma have won seven of the last nine Big 12 football championship and now exit for the SEC, leaving the front-runner spot up for grabs.

The 2024 Big 12 football schedule was released on Tuesday morning. Here's a look at what the Buffaloes are up against going into their first year back in their old conference since 2010. Its an even split of games that includes two non-conference contests on the road to start the season.

The game on Sept. 28 will mark CU's first conference game in Coach Prime's home state of Florida. They'll be right outside Disney World for the longest distance traveled this season (1,873 miles). It's the first-ever meeting between the Buffs and the Knights.

Colorado welcomes Cincinnati into Boulder for the first time since 1972. The Buffs beat the Bearcats 56-14 in the non-conference portion of the schedule that year. They will not play again until 2026 when the series shifts to the Blue Chip City.

Four of the twelve opponents from the 2023 season remain on this year's schedule, with three of those games on the road. A Black Friday affair with Oklahoma State ends the regular season. It will be the 48th meeting with the Cowboys since 1920. Colorado leads 26-20-1 in the all-time series. The schedule marks the first time CU will play in a conference spread across three time zones.
