When the Colorado Buffaloes added kicker Jace Feely to the roster, it was clear they found a solid replacement for Cole Becker.

The Arizona State transfer committed to Coach Prime after two seasons with the Sun Devils. He also came to Boulder as an NFL legacy. Jace's father, Jay Feely, put together a 14-year career in the league booting kicks for seven different teams.

Jace is excited for a fresh start and is ready to compete with former Jackson State standout Alejandro Mata. The two scholarship kickers are also improving each other's skill set in the process with great runs in practice. A positive environment fostered by Prime and his staff to be the best every day. It was one of the reasons why Feely was comfortable leaving ASU.

"One of the first things I gathered talking to Prime and the coaches was that they really care about their guys and they care about way more than football," Feely told The Nick Ferg Show.

Deion Sanders brought a good amount of Louis with him to CU, including Mata. However, Feely was able to nail 65-yard kicks at Folsom Field in pregame warm-ups last year and might have a leg up in the kicking battle just by experience.

On another note, Feely admits his dad would still be in the NFL if it wasn't for kickoff duties. A goal he keeps in mind is being able to beat his father's combine bench press record of 28 reps at 225 pounds. Feely has three years before chasing that dream, but is currently around ten reps.
