Shedeur Sanders took a hit on a strip sack with 5:20 left in the first quarter vs. Washington State. The Colorado Buffaloes QB was in obvious pain and needed help up off the ground. He was pointing to his arm on the CU sideline and was replaced on the following series by backup QB Ryan Staub.

FOX's sideline reporter Josh Sims said Sanders had discomfort gripping the ball and said he was explaining that factor to Coach Prime. Staub was under center for CU's third drive, which resulted in a punt.

Sanders went back into the game and lead the Buffs on a scoring drive with a 45-yard TD strike to Travis Hunter. However, he struggled mightily to move the ball for the Buffs and reportedly left with an ankle injury at the 10:52 mark of the second quarter.

Sanders appeared to be seriously hurt and was eventually taken to the locker room for further evaluation. Staub re-entered the game midway through the second quarter.

Washington State's defense had sacked Sanders four times early in the game. They went into the locker room at halftime with a total of seven sacks after getting to Staub.

Sanders tested his throwing motion on the field at halftime. He was ruled out for the rest of the game and returned to the CU sideline out of uniform.
