Shedeur Sanders won't play in Colorado's season finale at Utah on Saturday. The Colorado Buffaloes quarterback was dealing with a reported ankle injury and didn't practice all week. His status was a game day decision after leaving last week's game against Washington State.

Sanders took a hit on a strip sack against the Cougars and went to the locker room. He was replaced on the following series by backup QB Ryan Staub, who will get the start in Salt Lake City. The 6-1, 190-pound quarterback from Stevenson Ranch, CA will try to guide the Buffs to victory on the road against the Utes fifth-stringer Luke Bottari, who has never taken an FBS snap.

Coach Prime's youngest son will try again next season. He currently holds the CU record with 3,230 passing yards this season and the second-best mark with 27 TDs. Sanders was FBS' most accurate passer with 400+ attempts going into this weekend.

Colorado faces Utah at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on the Pac-12 Network.
