Colorado's Travis Jay entering bye week near 'fully healthy'

Buffs cornerback hitting strides to being 100 percent in second half of season

Travis Jay is looking forward to the final five games of the season. For the first time in over a year, Colorado's defensive back feels like he's near 100 percent after an undisclosed injury. We could see him out on the field for the Buffs in a more significant capacity.

The Florida State transfer recorded a tackle in the blowout loss to Oregon. Outside of that, he has been in recovery mode trying to get back to being 'fully healthy'. Jay told Well Off Media he's at about "90 percent" going into the bye week.

This is great news for the Buffs secondary going into the final stretch of the season. It will help take some weight off Omarion Cooper, who has held down the right cornerback spot since the start of the season. We'll see how this translates going forward for Colorado's defense, who's nearly last in the Pac-12 for points allowed.

The Buffaloes try to make a bowl run in the final month. They'll need two upset wins and one, if not both, over a ranked opponent to make the postseason. It's not impossible, but it will require "all hand on deck" for Deion Sanders' team to get to six wins.

Colorado faces 25th-ranked UCLA at the Rose Bowl on Oct. 28. Another nationally televised matchup in prime time for Sanders and the Buffs on ABC.
