Colorado OL Tyler Brown denied eligibility by NCAA

The Jackson State transfer won't return until 2024

Colorado will be without Jackson State transfer Tyler Brown for the 2023 season. In a video posted to his YouTube account, Brown says he was denied immediate eligibility for the season due to the two-transfer rule.

Brown played last season under Coach Prime at JSU, earning First-team All-SWAC honors. The mighty offensive lineman, who's considered the strongest player on CU's roster, originally started his career at Louisiana in 2019.

A huge blow for Brown and CU offensive line coach Bill O' Boyle, who was expecting the NCAA would return some positive news.

The NCAA voted in March to restrict the number of waivers granted to second-time transfers, trying to curb players ending up back in the portal. Under the new guidelines, a second-time transfer can only "receive immediate eligibility if they have a physical injury or mental health condition that pushed them to transfer from a school."

Brown dealt with a bout of mononucleosis while transitioning and should've been given a waiver by the NCAA. He'll be available for the Buffs in 2024.
