Tyler Brown is hopeful he'll be on the field for Colorado this year. The Jackson State transfer is waiting on the NCAA to grant him an eligibility waiver for the 2023 season. He was one of the few to follow Coach Prime to Boulder and has been a workhorse ever since.

At 6-foot-3 and 315 pounds, Brown's currently slated to start for the Buffs at offensive guard. While his status remains uncertain as to whether or not he'll be in Fort Worth, the former JSU standout is still in the plans for CU offensive line coach Bill O' Boyle.

Brown came to CU as a "second-time" transfer, meaning the NCAA would have to declare him eligible. He transferred from Louisiana to Jackson State before Colorado was ever an option. The one-time transfer exemption was granted for his move to JSU, but not for his latest migration to Boulder. However, Brown dealt with a bout of mononucleosis while shuffling around.

The NCAA voted in March to restrict the number of waivers granted to second-time transfers, trying to curb players ending up back in the portal. Under the new guidelines, a second-time transfer can only "receive immediate eligibility if they have a physical injury or mental health condition that pushed them to transfer from a school."

The Buffaloes need Brown to help anchor the offensive line this season. It would be huge for O'Boyle to add the former FCS All-American back into the mix. Time is ticking away with Colorado having 13 days before the start of the season.
