Colorado’s Coach James Chaney says Colorado State “stepped in a bear trap”

Colorado fired up as they prepare for an in-state rival

Last week, it was personal. This week, it feels like things have even further escalated.

I’ll admit, covering this team can be be both exhilarating and exhausting at the same time. Every day brings new drama but, when you truly break it down, it’s often justified.

What Jay Norvell said Wednesday, on his Coach’s show, was nothing short of a self inflicted wound. He apologized to his co-host for, and I'm paraphrasing here, “taking over the show,” to which he was met with a response similar to, “it’s okay…..it’s your show.”

To no one’s surprise, BuffsBeat.com was first reporting Norvell’s comments. While countless national media outlets piled on yesterday, we actually sat through this abomination on Wednesday night.

Norvell even said “I don’t care if they hear it in Boulder,” and I thought, “Buddy, this is going a lot further than Boulder.”

It’s not a surprise where and how the story traveled. The narratives are already currently being constructed for upcoming opponents, Oregon and USC.

Today, seemingly every major sports television show is broadcasting from Boulder. Tomorrow, you’ll have College Gameday on ESPN along with Fox’s Big Noon pregame show. It’s the college football capital of the world! Everybody wants a piece of this team.

Can the student-athletes handle this level of scrutiny? Well, we know Coach Prime can, in fact, he shines when the spotlight it at its brightest.

This is where the genius of Deion Sanders is most often overlooked. His staff is nothing short of phenomenal. The assistant coaches are not just preparing the players what happens on the field but also handling the challenges off the gridiron.

Coach James Chaney is master motivational speaker. You don’t have to spend much time on CoachChaney.com to know how in-demand his services are to teams. He’s pictured with biggest coaches in the game, Kirby Smart, Nick Saban, Dabo Swinney and on and on.

In this latest Well Off Media video, Coach Chaney implies that CSU and Norvell “stepped in a bear trap.”

I couldn’t agree more.

The only mystery is why Norvell willingly ran towards the metaphorical trap. He brought this on himself. As it stands now one foot is in a restraint, the other is in his mouth.
