Deion Sanders appreciates Travis Hunter's early morning text message, but doesn't want HIM at practice

Coach Prime know a star when he sees one

Deion Sanders joined FOX Sports' Undisputed on Monday to recap  Colorado's upset win over 17th-ranked TCU. Coach Prime talked about the homecoming in Fort Worth and the full range of emotions he felt by stepping on the field for the first time in the Power Five.

It was great to see the Buffs playing well and clicking on all cylinders. One of the leaders of CU was Travis Hunter. The two-way stud played his heart out and put on one of the best shows in recent memory. Sanders was asked by Michael Irvin how special Travis Hunter was to him and the response was outstanding.

"(Hunter) is different. This guy is one of y'all, man. This guy is Skip. He's like you are in the business, man. He's adult like he's cut differently like that's why there's  a 'D' on his shirt. I don't have captains. I don't believe in captains. I believe in leaders and dogs. Every dog ain't a leader and every leader ain't a dog.

"Oh, but he's both. Travis Hunter texts me I think it was six o'clock Saturday morning, "Let's go. Let's go do this baby." That's the text I got from Travis Hunter first thing in the morning on Saturday morning, "let's go do this baby."

"So, this kid was born like that. I told him last week, "Look man, you're resting. I don't want to see you practicing until Friday. Until we get to Fort Worth." Travis was on the field Thursday trying to go both ways. I said "Now, didn't I just tell you I don't want you practicing."

"So, this week I said, "Dude you're out until Wednesday. You're not practicing until Wednesday." You know we had Sunday. We practice on Sunday, if you didn't play 60 snaps. Monday is a day off. We have film study and reports. We practice Tuesday, but I don't want to see him on the field until Wednesday because I understand the toll and what it takes to go to play both ways consistently and mentally and psychologically and physically. I understand that. So, I give him a couple days off, because I know what I could count on Saturday. He's gonna be there"

Sanders said one of the things about his Buffaloes team he was proud of was how disciplined they were against the Horned Frogs.

"One of the things that I'm most proud of in the game, I think we only had six penalties. That was phenomenal," Sanders said.

"We've been together for several months but the discipline and something we preach and something we teach consistently, but to have six penalties on a stage like that see. I love my youngsters for that, but those six guys, they're gonna run tomorrow for those six don't believe that."

Colorado returned home with Nebraska up next. An old Big Eight rivalry is renewed on Saturday at Noon from Folsom Field. It's also the first-ever meeting between Sanders and Matt Rhule.
