Colorado's Black and Gold Spring Game is two months away, but Deion Sanders is already preparing for a grand event for the weekend of April 27th. The Colorado Buffaloes coach sat down for an interview with Lil Wayne on 'Young Money Radio' and says there are plans currently in motion. He said CU will be ditching the traditional standalone scrimmage in-favor of a weekend similar to a Super Bowl format with festivities leading up to the game.

“For our spring game, we’re doing a whole Prime Weekend,” Sanders said.

“We’re having a fashion show on Thursday, something for the boosters on Friday. Then the game on Saturday. He went on to say, “We’re doing an after party – a white, black, and a Hispanic DJ. We’re going to cover everybody. Then, after the game, we’re doing something with the alumni.”

Sanders also hinted that a musical guest(s) would make an appearance on top of the Champion Center. In doing so, he gave away key details about the game being nationally televised for a second straight year. “Maybe, at halftime of the game or right at the end of the game on the rooftop... We’re going to have somebody. It’s going down,” Sanders added. “We may cut that into the game so that could be seen with millions of viewers.”

Coach Prime's first Spring Game at Colorado was a great introduction to the world of Power Five football on ESPN. It pulled in an over-capacity crowd of over 47,000 at Folsom Field in the middle of a snow storm and had half-a-million people watching at home. Not bad considering only 1,100 people showed up for the event in 2022.

Sanders and the Buffs were the biggest story in sports last year. They made waves throughout the final Pac-12 season before finishing with a 4-8 record. However, it was a giant step forward for a program that was left for dead in a conference that is about to shutter the doors forever.

The second year for Sanders is on track to take CU to another level. It seems we only got a taste of what he's cooking up before he really turns up the heat. Either way, there's not another like Coach Prime and he's ready to shock the world again.
