Deion Sanders moving on to "bigger things" after CSU win

Coach Prime wishes Norvell and the Rams the best

Deion Sanders wasn't happy with the way his team played on Saturday. However, he can't fault the Buffaloes for staying strong and picking up a win over Colorado State. There was no postgame firework from either side after the double-overtime contest. Just a hard fought in-state rivalry the way it should always be.

Sanders was asked about the lead up to the Rocky Mountain Showdown with CSU coach Jay Norvell's comments. It was simple with Coach Prime turning the page to focus on next week's matchup with Oregon.

"We showed that we would fight," Sanders said. "We showed that we had no surrender or give up in us. That's a lot for a team that's fairly new."

Colorado was down by 11 in the fourth quarter and staged a comeback. Buffs QB Shedeur Sanders led his team 98 yards for a touchdown and needed a successful 2-point conversion to force overtime. It wasn't pretty with Sanders throwing his first interception of the season and Travis Hunter exiting the game at halftime.

Give credit to Colorado State for bouncing back after a week one blowout loss to Washington State. Norvell had the Rams in a position to compete when a majority of people thought it wasn't going to be that close. Sanders expressed his sincerity to Norvell after the game.

"I'm happy for that dude," Sanders said about Norvell. "I don't know him, but I'm happy for him. I wish the best for him. I really do. My success has nothing to do with his." He went on to say, "My blessings have nothing to do with his blessings."

Colorado opens Pac-12 play against Oregon. Another week that's "personal" for the Buffaloes after Ducks coach Dan Lanning called CU "irrelevant" in the conference.
