Deion Sanders not happy with Cormani McClain's lack of discipline

Former top recruit has to do better in Coach Prime's eyes
In this story:

Cormani McClain entered the game late against Oregon after the Buffs were down by a large margin. It was the first time seeing the former top recruit with Travis Hunter sidelined due to a lacerated liver.

While we were able to catch a glimpse of McClain, it's clear that Deion Sanders isn't pleased with the lack of effort from the five-star cornerback. Coach Prime let his feelings be known when asked about his valued recruit at Tuesday's press conference.

"Study, prepare, be on time for meetings, show up to the dern meetings, " Sanders said about McClain. "Understand what we're doing as a scheme. Want to play this game... Desire to play this game. Desire to be the best in this game-- at practice, in the film room and in your own free time."

Sanders brough McClain to Boulder as a generational talent. He was rated as a top ten all-time defensive back from Lakeland HS in Florida. However, all of that seems to have faded and McClain needs to rebuild his image a bit. Coach Prime will be there to help, but it has to be a two-way street.

McClain didn't directly respond to Sanders but did post to Instagram saying, "You'll be surprised what happens behind closed doors. (Everything) ain't just what is seem(s)... But pushing thru politic(s) everyday (is) the only way out!"

This comes as a follow up after Sanders said McClain was not ready to start at Oregon. CU's coaching staff is working to develop the highly-talented defensive back. The plan is still a "corner-by-committee" scenario for the coming weeks while Hunter recovers.

McClain has the potential to follow in Sanders' footsteps as a shutdown defender. He had 58 tackles (3 for loss), 15 interceptions, 17 PDUs and three forced fumbles over the last two years at Lakeland.

Colorado faces No. 8 USC on Saturday. A FOX Big Noon Kickoff special from Boulder with the Buffs looking for an upset.
