Deion Sanders warns players to be responsible, drills down 'No Means No'
Deion Sanders has never been shy about calling out issues before they happen. The Colorado Buffaloes coach likes to stay ahead of the curve, especially when it comes to his players. He rolled out a set of expectations for the bye week on Wednesday with highly important messages.
The first one was self-explanatory and was a blanket statement for the entire speech. "Don't do anything that can cost you opportunities," Sanders said via Well Off Media.
It's a general rule in life, but sometimes, a reminder is needed. This one went into a more detailed side for Coach Prime, which also made sense."Don't accept anything from anybody you don't know because there's a hidden cost to it. Nothing is free," Sanders noted.
The next one was a point that Coach Prime wants his players to take seriously.
"Don't take anything that isn't given to you," Sanders said. "Anything, especially from a young woman. That's called rape. Do you understand that? There's a fine line between that.
"Most universities lose three-to-four young men each year because of this. I don't want not one of those to be you. You got that understood? No means no. No means no. No mean no. "
Sanders went on to tell his players it's all about being a gentleman. He also challenged them to make smart decisions and do what they need to be great while on break. This means staying in shape both mentally and physically, along with understanding everything about UCLA with the extra week to prepare.
It was the start of a tough week for Colorado after a 46-43 loss to Stanford in double overtime last Friday night. However, Sanders and the Buffaloes will turn the corner and come back stronger than before. They'll face the 25th-ranked Bruins at the Rose Bowl on Oct. 28. Another nationally televised game for CU with coverage on ABC.
