Shedeur Sanders going at Cormani McClain every day in practice

The Buffs QB wants to see more from the five-star defensive back
In this story:

Sheduer Sanders wasn't quiet about his expectations for Cormani McClain. The Colorado Buffaloes quarterback said he's pushing the five-star defensive back to be great every time he faces him.

"I'm going to go at (Cormani) everyday in practice when I see him out there," Sanders said. "He has no choice. Because I'm going to keep going at him to see what he's good at. He was a five-star in high school, but that doesn't mean anything now in college.

"But he has a good I.Q. and things other guys don't have. In his toolbox, he's got a lot of things. So, I'm going to keep working, keep going at him to understand what he's good at and what he's bad at. And try to exploit what he's bad at. So, when other teams see that, he won't have any weakness."

What doesn't kill him will make him stronger. That's the mentality for Sanders when it comes to McClain. The nation's top defender from the 2023 recruiting class is arguably one of the best in CU history. He racked up 58 tackles (3 for loss), 15 interceptions, 17 PDUs, and three forced fumbles over the last two years at Lakeland.

The Buffs are suited to be better with Sanders taking on a self-denoted captain role. One of the most underrated Pac-12 QB with 70 TDs over the past two years at Jackson State. Sanders goes toe-to-toe with McClain and Travis Hunter in a stout secondary, which has made practice outstanding for film study.
