Travis Hunter has an unforgettable nickname for Cormani McClain

A bit of compassion from one five-star to another
In this story:

Travis Hunter's vibrant personality was on display at Pac-12 Media Day on Friday. The Colorado Buffaloes five-star transfer from Jackson State went through the ringer with smile. But it was the last question of the day that made him and Shedeur Sanders crack up.

How is Cormani McClain making the transition to Boulder?

Sanders took it right off the bat saying Hunter coined the nickname "Pukey" for the former Lakeland defensive back. If you remember McClain's transition to Colorado was rough with him throwing up seven times on his first day.

"Cormani is getting adjusted to the altitude really well," Sanders said. "We have a bet everyday that he's not going to throw up."

In all seriousness, McClain's talents are said to be "once in a generation." He commited to Colorado over Miami, and even left the Canes 'high and dry' on Early Signing Day to be with Coach Prime in Boulder. The top defender in 2023's recruiting class was a great pull for the Buffs. He racked up 58 tackles (3 for loss), 15 interceptions, 17 PDUs, and three forced fumbles over the last two years at Lakeland.

The Buffs secondary is dangerous with McClain alongside Hunter, who will be going both ways this season. They'll face the likes of USC's Heisman winner Caleb Williams and Oregon's Bo Nix.
