UTEP's Justin Mayers transfers to Colorado
Coach Prime wasn't done working the phones on Saturday night. UTEP offensively lineman Justin Mayers made it official and will be transferring to Colorado.
The 6-foot-3, 315-pound Mayers hit the transfer portal and got a flood of offers, including three from SEC schools before he decided to join Deion Sanders and the Buffs. The Junior has over 1,700 snaps in 36 games at left guard under his belt. He earned All-CUSA honors in 2022.
Mayers playing in 24 games over the past two seasons for the Miners. He's a tremendous blocker with great technique. It's going to give him an immediate opportunity to step into a potential starting role.Â
Colorado will look to revamp the offensive line under new coach Phil Loadholt. They jumped out with a good start on Saturday, adding four new lineman from the large visitor group. A good sign of progress after CU gave up 54 sacks this season.Â
The original three-star recruit from Frisco, Texas comes to CU with one year of eligibility remaining.Â
