WATCH: Washington State players celebrate Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders' injury
The game with Colorado sure seemed personal for Washington State.
After starting the season at 4-0, and then free falling with a six-game losing streak, I think it’s fair to say they had some pent up aggression with bowl hopes on the line. We saw all the instances of “The Shedeur” from various Cougar players, along with hearing the perplexing “overrated” chants directed at Deion Sanders and the Buffs.
However, there was one moment that definitely crossed the line. It was the absolute definition of unsportsmanlike with the Pac-12 refs and the nation witnessing the entire ordeal.
What were Washington State defensive back Stephen Hall and lineback Buddah Al-Uqdah doing here?
With Shedeur Sanders already on the ground in pain, Hall and Al-Uqudah were celebrating the injury and thought it was appropriate to dance several feet from him? The act is pretty terrible. But, it’s still a bad look no matter how you try and defend it.
Washington State were the far better team last night. They dominated the game from start to finish. They probably could have scored 80 points, if they wanted to. It was a championship atmosphere and the Cougars delivered an epic performance. Just not necessarily one I would categorize as classy.
Whether it’s jealousy for the attention Colorado has received all year or something else, it seems opponents revel in their opportunities to take both physical and verbal shots at Shedeur Sanders.
For the most part, the Buffs leader, at least publicly, has embraced the hate. He told Complex recently, "I enjoy it. I enjoy the hate. I enjoy that they get mad. If they're not talking about what you're doing, you're not relevant. So knowing that you got people hating on you, that means you're doing something right."
Washington State (5-6) heads to the Apple Cup in Seattle to face Heisman hopeful Michael Penix Jr. and the undefeated Washington Huskies.
