Big weekend in Boulder: Eight transfers visiting Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes
Coming off last weekend’s success, Deion Sanders and his staff are expected to receive eight more visits from transfer players this weekend per 247sports. Since November 27, the Buffaloes have received commitments from ten transfers, all of whom play on the offensive side of the ball. This weekend has more of a defensive feel to it. Of the eight expected visitors, four are defensive lineman and one is a cornerback.
Here's a peak at the transfer players expected to visit Boulder this weekend:
Chris McClellan, DL, Florida
The 6-foot-3, 320-pound sophomore from Owasso, Okla. Appeared in all 12 games this fall for the Gators and registered 23 total tackles. Missouri and Oklahoma are also among multiple schools McClellan has received offers from since entering the portal.
Quency Wiggins, DE, LSU
The 6-foot-5, 265-pound Louisiana native Wiggins was highly coveted coming out of Madison Prep Academy in 2022. He saw action in four games this season for the Tigers.
Chidozie Nwankwo, DL, Houston
Nwankwo has been a beast for the Cougars ever since he stepped foot on campus in 2020. The 5-foot-11, 296-pound wrecking ball has accumulated 95 total tackles and five sacks in 41 games played for Houston. The Buffaloes have already received a commitment from Nwankwo’s teammate Tyler Johnson.
Mike Lockhart, DL, West Virginia
The 6-foot-3, 305-pound redshirt junior led the Mountaineers with nine tackles for loss this season. Lockhart began his collegiate career at Georgia Tech but left following the 2021 season.
Preston Hodge, CB, Liberty
Per Rivals and Yahoo Sports National Recruiting Director Adam Gorney, Hodge already visited Boulder on Thursday and is expected to be in College Station, Tex. today. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound defensive back compiled 48 total tackles, two interceptions and eight pass break-ups for the Flames this year.
Cordale Russell, WR, TCU
A 6-foot-4, 210-pound wideout from Mesquite, Tex., Russell played in three games for the Horned Frogs in 2023. 247Sports.com had him ranked 65th (No. 100 in composite rankings) in their Top 247 players for the Class of 2023.
Chris Brazzell II, WR. Tulane
The redshirt freshman from Midland, Tex. led the Green Wave with 44 receptions for 711 receiving yards in 2023. Like Russell, the 6-foot-5, 195-pound Brazzell would be another tall option for Shadeur Sanders.
Walter Taylor, QB, Vanderbilt
A 6-foot-7, 235-pound signal caller from Jackson, Ala., Taylor saw action in five games for the Commodores this season. He completed 5-of-15 passes for 44 yards and rushed 30 times for 103 yards.
Last year, Sanders and the Buffaloes snagged 51 players in the portal to finish with the top-ranked program in 247sports.com’s transfer ranking. As for their 2024 class, the Buffaloes currently lead the transfer team ranking and are 23rd overall.
