Duke basketball: When to expect next Blue Devil announcement
Around 10 a.m. ET Monday, Duke basketball freshman guard Tyrese Proctor announced his decision to return for a sophomore campaign. Two days later, almost to the minute, freshman forward Dariq Whitehead expressed his gratitude to Jon Scheyer, teammates, and fans but noted that he's declaring for the 2023 NBA Draft.

So it stands to reason that another Blue Devil might let the public know his plan for next season at roughly 10 a.m. ET Friday. It seems Duke has a calculated approach, as has often been the case in recent years, and wants to give each player a chance to have his announcement remain in the spotlight for an entire 48-hour media cycle.
Then again, it's conceivable that several of the guys who have yet to announce are torn as to whether to stay in school or turn pro. They could remain that way for another couple of weeks; note that the deadline to declare for the 2023 NBA Draft isn't until April 23.
Junior guard Jeremy Roach could go either way. And the same seems true for two freshman forwards: Mark Mitchell and Kyle Filipowski. Meanwhile, it feels like a safe bet that freshman center Dereck Lively II will join Whitehead in going ahead and cashing in on his talents at the next level this year, but that's not a 100 percent sure thing.
As for which of those Duke basketball talents will be the next to reveal his plan, that remains anyone's guess.
Again, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the next decision surface on social media around 10 a.m. ET Friday and for the one after that to appear late Sunday morning (or maybe Monday).
And there's a chance a Blue Devil or two, although unlikely any of the above names, will enter the transfer portal. Such an announcement could come at any time, or perhaps Scheyer will get lucky in this regard, with "continuity" being the primary theme and strength of his second season at the helm.
