Duke Basketball Versus Kentucky in Rupp Arena Next Season?
Duke basketball hasn't played Kentucky in Rupp Arena since beating the Wildcats, 55-54, on their home floor in their NCAA Tournament Mideast Regional semifinal matchup in March 1980.
And the Blue Devils haven't been in Lexington for a regular-season bout against the fellow blueblood since 1969, losing in Memorial Coliseum in what was then the early-season University of Kentucky Invitational Tournament.
But judging by the tweet on Friday afternoon from Kentucky journalism student and Kentucky Sports Radio intern Daniel Hager, it looks as though the 2023-24 schedule will pit Duke against Kentucky in Rupp Arena for the first time in a regular season.
It would also be the first matchup between Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer, entering his second year at the helm, and Kentucky's Hall of Famer, John Calipari.
Assuming this is true, the game will presumably be part of the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge. There's no doubt that this pairing projects to have the highest ratings, so it has been the expectation among fans and insiders ever since the announcement of this new annual clash between ACC and SEC teams.

The Blue Devils trail their all-time series with Kentucky, 11-12, but have won two straight, five of the past six, and nine of the past 11 meetings. Their past four battles, occurring once every three years dating back to 2012, have all been part of the annual Champions Classic in early November.
