Guard Returns, Duke Basketball Reveals Starters for Final Game of 2023
It's the 2023 Duke basketball finale. And the meeting with visiting unranked Queens (6-8, 0-0 Atlantic Sun) at 2 p.m. ET Saturday (The CW) is the last non-conference game on the regular season slate for the 16th-ranked Blue Devils (8-3, 0-1 ACC).
Fortunately for head coach Jon Scheyer's second Duke team, sophomore floor general Tyrese Proctor is back in action after sitting out the past four weeks with the sprained ankle he sustained in the first half of the Blue Devils' loss at Georgia Tech on Dec. 2.
The Duke basketball social media team announced his return with the following post roughly an hour before tipoff:
Thirty minutes later, the team revealed its starters against the Royals:
- Senior guard Jeremy Roach
- Freshman guard Jared McCain
- Freshman guard Caleb Foster
- Sophomore forward Mark Mitchell
- Sophomore forward Kyle Filipowski
Despite the announced return of Proctor, he'll come off the bench and will likely receive limited minutes. Foster, Proctor's replacement in the starting lineup since the injury, will make his fourth start of the season.
Following Saturday's home bout, Duke basketball will remain in Durham to welcome unranked Syracuse (9-3, 0-1 ACC) to Cameron Indoor Stadium at 9 p.m. Tuesday (ESPN).
