Duke faces Scottie Pippen’s alma mater when Central Arkansas comes to Cameron. 

This game is part of the 2k Empire Classic, as is Friday’s game against Georgia State. After the on campus prelims Duke will head (win or lose) to New York the weekend of Nov. 21 for games against Cal and either Georgetown or Texas. 

Duke has won the event the last two times, most recently in 2015-16.

Central Arkansas is 1-2 after losses at Baylor & Georgetown, although the Bears outscored the Hoyas in the second half. 

Watch for junior big man Hayden Koval, the school’s all time blocked shot leader, as well as several experienced guards. CAU returns four starters from last year.

CAU calls time out with Duke up 8-5. Bears are an experienced team. Seven footer Koval hit a three over Carey & 5-11 guard Deandre Jones giving Tre Jones early trouble. 

Under 16 time out. Duke up 10-5. Blue Devils have 5 steals already but 4 turnovers

Duke puts in Goldwire with Jones & turns on the pressure. Cue 8-0 run coming out of the TO 

Hurt hits a three to make it an 11-0 run. Time out CAU. 21-5 Duke 12:40 before half 

Under 12. Matthew Hurt has 10,CAU has five. 25-5 Duke, run is 19-0, 15-0 since going to pressure

Tre Jones collides with 2 Central Arkansas players going for a loose ball. Still down 

Jones walks back to the bench. Medical staff checking him out during the time out 

Krzyzewski heads down the bench to make sure Jones is ok. 

Jones’ jaw seems to be bothering him. 

Under 4 timeout. Duke up 48-13. Jones still on bench, appears to be uncomfortable but he joined the timeout huddle. 

Vernon Carey with 10 points, 7 rebounds. 

Assistant Jim Scheyer heads down to check on Jones after that timeout. 

At the half, it’s Duke 57-20.

Duke outrebounding CAU in both ends. 17-4 on CAU misses, 9-8 on their own misses

Hurt & Moore replace starters Jones & White to start second half. White only played 4:47 in the first 

Some choppy play from Duke. Moore missed a finish & Duke got beaten down floor in transition. K calls TO. 67-29, 16:36 to go 

Duke makes it official. Jones is out for the game for  “precautionary reasons” 

Baker & White both hit threes. Duke goes to the under 12 up 82-40

With Jones out, Wendell Moore brought the ball up for Duke with Goldwire on the bench 

Alex O’Connell with the steal & dunk and CAU calls time out. 7:58 left, 89-42 Duke 

Vernon Carey puts Duke over the century mark at the line 100-50.
