Four Duke basketball freshmen in latest SI mock draft
SI.com's NBA Draft insider, Jeremy Woo, attended Duke basketball's 69-64 loss to the defending national champion Kansas Jayhawks at the Champions Classic in Indianapolis on Tuesday night.
And judging by Woo's overall assessment of the teenage Blue Devils below, it seems he's not overly impressed with any of the Duke basketball rookies who saw action against the Jayhawks:
"I never like to draw much from early-season games, but it's fair to say that the five-stars on the [Duke basketball] roster didn't quite wow anyone on this stage."
Nevertheless, the 2023 NBA mock draft Woo published on Thursday shows four first-year Blue Devils hearing their names, including the one who has yet to play in five-star small forward Dariq Whitehead.

Here's where Woo sees the Duke basketball talents landing in next summer's NBA Draft (note that neither junior point guard Jeremy Roach nor any other non-freshman Blue Devil ended up on his projections):
- Dariq Whitehead at No. 6 overall to the Orlando Magic (via the Chicago Bulls)
- Tyrese Proctor at No. 15 overall to the New York Knicks
- Dereck Lively II at No. 17 overall to the Indiana Pacers
- Kyle Filipowski at No. 39 overall to the Cleveland Cavaliers (via the Golden State Warriors)
