Duke announced its team captains for the 2019-20 season.

The Blue Devils will be led by senior forwards Jack White and Javin DeLaurier as well as sophomore point guard Tre Jones.

White and DeLaurier also served as captains last season, becoming the first repeat captains since Grayson Allen, in 2016-17 and 2017-18.

Jones is the first sophomore captain since Rodney Hood, who was a redshirt sophomore in 2013-14.

DeLaurier averaged 3.8 points and 4.4 rebounds for the Blue Devils last season, hitting .747 from the field and starting 16 games. DeLaurier went through the draft evaluation process but decided to return to school.

White averaged 4.1 points and 4.7 rebounds. He struggled through a shooting slump where he missed 28 straight three-pointers.

Jones was the fourth-leading scorer on the team at 9.4 points, adding 3.8 rebounds. He led the team with 5.3 assists, second-best in the ACC. He also led the league in assist-to-turnover ratio. Jones spurned the NBA draft, returning to school to pursue a national title.

In a Twitter posting by the basketball team, Coach Mike Krzyzewski was quoted as saying, “I am thrilled to have Jack, Javin and Tre as our captains for this season. Javin and Jack did an incredible job last year leading our team. To have them back with that experience as seniors, and to add our point guard, is important. They are each great leaders in their own way, and I’m confident our team is in good hands.”
