Alabama linebacker suffers knee injury

Alabama received some bad news four days before its season opener against Duke.
Crimson Tide linebacker Dylan Moses (above, courtesy USA Today) suffered an injury, reported to be an ACL tear, Tuesday night at practice.
Coach Nick Saban confirmed the injury on Wednesday morning’s SEC coaches teleconference.
“He did suffer a knee injury that will require surgery, so he’ll be out indefinitely,” Saban said. “This will be a character check for our team we’re gonna do our best to support Dylan and the people who now have to fill in for Dylan.”
The junior was on the preseason watch lists for the Bednarik, Nagurski (both for top defensive player), Butkus (top linebacker) and Walter Camp (top collegiate player) awards. As Alabama’s leading tackler last season, Moses was a finalist for the Butkus Award.
True freshman Shane Lee and sophomore Markail Benton, who had 14 tackles last year, are listed as co-backups to Moses on the Alabama depth chart.
