Duke football scholarship offer roundup
Duke football had a busy week on the recruiting trail, handing out several offers to class of 2021 prospects.
Here’s a look at who’s confirmed online that they’ve been offered by the Blue Devils.
Dyson McCutcheon: The cornerback from Bishop Amat in La Puente, California is just beginning to generate interest on the recruiting circuit. He doesn’t have a star rating from either of the major services.
McCutcheon’s father Daylon was a cornerback for the Browns for seven years. His grandfather Lawrence was a Rams running back who made five Pro Bowls in 10 years in the league.
McCutcheon has been playing both ways this season, filling in at running back due to an injured teammate.
Josh Simmons is a four-star offensive lineman from San Diego. Rivals has him rated No. 237 nationally and No. 28 at tackle. 247 has him No. 271 and No. 9 at guard.
Will Schweitzer is a pass rusher from Los Gatos, California. He's rated as a three-star defensive end by Rivals. 247 has him as an outside linebacker but has yet to rate him. He's also played tight end.
Brock Bowers is a tight end from Napa, California. 247 has him rated a four star, No. 295 nationally and No. 10 at tight end. Rivals gives him three stars and rates him No. 14 at his position. Bowers reportedly impressed at The Opening, a prospect showcase earlier this summer. 247 Sports reports that he ran a 4.55 time in the 40 and jumped 40.2 inches.
Eli Sutton is a four-star offensive tackle from Brentwood, Tennessee. He’s rated No. 163 nationally and the No. 20 tackle in the class by 247, No. 153 and No. 18 by Rivals.
The Blue Devils also lost out on a 2020 receiver target. Zae Baines, a three-star from Roanoke, Virginia had a Duke offer but gave Temple a verbal commitment earlier in the week.
