Quentin Harris said that the ACC Coastal Division, which always seems destined to have a seven-team tie at 4-4, is so chaotic because every team in the division is so talented. When asked about it a second time, he doubled down.

“I would argue that’s just showing competitive balance within the Coastal,” he said. “There are so many talented teams, it is kind of a dog fight each and every week. It could come out either way.”

Harris also discussed the team’s bye week, which gave him a chance to get away from football, not that he took ti.

“A little bit,” he said. “My girlfriend’s brother plays at Charlotte, so I went down and watched them play Middle Tennessee State. That was the extent of me watching football. A little bit here and there, but I tried to relax and get away from it a little bit before this long four-game stretch.”

It can be difficult for a quarterback to watch a game without his film study habits taking over.

“A little bit of both,” he said. “If I try to purposefully have the mindset of a fan, I can watch and appreciate the game a little bit. But there are times you fall back into it, reading coverages, ‘Now where would you go with the ball?’ That kind of thing.”

Harris was a freshman sitting out his redshirt year when Duke won at Notre Dame. Even though he was on the team, he doesn’t think the experience is applicable now.

“They’re definitely a different team, different personnel,” he said. “We’re a different team as well. Maybe some of the stuff they did then is applicable, but I know they’ve changed coordinators. So not a whole lot, especially given it’s been a few years. We know we’ve played them before and had a good outcome then. We’re hoping to repeat that this week.”
