Duke Basketball Great Ties Lebron James’ Season Triple-Double Count

In this story:
Six days and three games after posting his first career triple-double in the NBA, San Antonio Spurs point guard and Duke basketball alum Tre Jones did it again.
This time, though, he did so without the game going into overtime.
Jones, who went No. 41 overall to the Spurs at the 2020 NBA Draft following two memorable seasons as a Blue Devil, finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists, and only one turnover across his 32 minutes on the floor in a 151-131 home loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday.

He now boasts one triple-double more than his older brother, former one-and-done Duke basketball national champ Tyus Jones, who is now with the Memphis Grizzlies. And his two triple-doubles this season put him in a tie with Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and four others for the 11th most in the league.

As a full-time starter for the San Antonio Spurs this year, the 23-year-old Tre Jones has recorded career-high averages pretty much across the board: 12.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 1.3 steals, and 29.3 minutes per outing.
Also noteworthy, Tre Jones' 4.0 assist-to-turnover ratio this go-round ranks No. 8 in the NBA. Tyus Jones owns the best mark — for the fifth straight year — at 5.6.
The Spurs (21-60), currently in a tie with the Houston Rockets for the worst record in the Western Conference, close out their regular season with a road matchup against the Dallas Mavericks at 3:30 p.m. ET Sunday.
