Duke Basketball Recruiting: Big-Time Visitor on Campus
According to multiple reports, Montverde (Fla.) five-star Cooper Flagg, No. 2 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite, is visiting the Duke basketball program on Tuesday. It's the first visit of the 6-foot-8, 200-pound small forward's recruitment.
And that should come as no surprise to the Blue Devils. After all, Flagg has boasted an offer from head coach Jon Scheyer since May 2022, not to mention that the Maine native and recent Peach Jam standout has repeatedly admitted to growing up as a Duke basketball enthusiast.
Flagg, who holds over a dozen offers, has neither noted a decision timeline nor named finalists. As only a rising high school junior, perhaps he is in no rush to choose what will likely be a one-and-done destination before becoming a lottery pick.
On the other hand, Cooper Flagg's age is 2025 draft eligible.
That, paired with the 16-year-old's beyond-his-years game, has given rise to reclassification chatter. So although he hasn't addressed such talk in interviews, there's a chance he's eyeing a jump to college next year.
For now, it looks like a positive sign for Scheyer and his gang that he's checking out Duke first.
The Duke basketball staff has yet to land a commitment from a 2025 prep. Meanwhile, the Blue Devils enjoy two early commits on the 2024 trail in North Meck (N.C.) five-star small forward Isaiah Evans and Paul VI Catholic (Va.) four-star small forward Darren Harris.
