Duke Basketball: Emerging Prospect Wants to Hear From Blue Devils
Despite not appearing on the 247Sports 2025 Composite, Colgan (Va.) small forward Nate Ament boasts offers from ACC schools Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. Plus, he's hearing from Virginia. Then this week, he told 247Sports' Travis Branham that he hopes to earn interest from the Duke basketball coaches and their UNC counterparts.

That may happen as soon as college recruiters can begin contacting 2025 preps directly in mid-June.
After all, as Branham noted, the long-limbed Ament has been impressive of late for Team Loaded NC U16 on the Adidas 3SSB circuit and "is due to make a big splash in his rankings debut" when 247Sports next updates its 2025 rankings.
By that time, there's no telling how tall he will be. According to Ament's recent chat with Pro Insight, the well-spoken teenager was about 6-foot-4 last summer and is now 6-foot-8 or 6-foot-9, with the growth spurt possibly still underway.
Add in the fact he grew up focusing on soccer, which he credits for his superb footwork at his size.
And On3's Jamie Shaw has taken notice of Ament's versatility, explaining why he sits at No. 46 overall in the class with a four-star rating on that site's rankings and could soon rise considerably:
"Nate Ament has a long and fluid frame; there is real upside in his game and skill set. At 6-foot-8, he has wing skills, bringing the ball up the floor under pressure and knocking down threes in the half-court...He is very thin and will need to add weight, but the fluidity is interesting. He has the legit size."
Duke basketball's list of 2025 targets is currently only four deep: Montverde (Fla.) five-star small forward Cooper Flagg, Lincoln Park (Pa.) five-star point guard Meleek Thomas, and the Christopher Columbus (Fla.) Boozer twins in five-star power forward Cameron Boozer and four-star combo guard Cayden Boozer.
But the Blue Devils' 2025 offer sheet may grow in the coming weeks, as several other intriguing talents in the class have recently drawn Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer or his assistants to their games in grassroots play.
