Duke Basketball Recruiting: Flory Bidunga Race Takes Another Turn
When Kokomo (Ind.) five-star center Flory Bidunga revealed his final four on July 17, chatter among insiders pointed to him announcing his decision by the end of the month. But it now appears the 2024 Duke basketball target, whose other finalists are Auburn, Kansas, and Michigan, needs more time.
On Friday night, national recruiting insider Andrew Slater tweeted what he is hearing, that Bidunga "would like to take 1-3 more weeks to decide."
One might assume the delay means Bidunga, a long-limbed Congo native who sits at No. 4 overall and No. 1 among big men on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, remains less than 100 percent sure of his destination after high school.
Judging by the 247Sports Crystal Ball, Rivals FutureCast, On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, and various comments from experts in recent weeks, the Duke basketball staff looks like one of the two clear-cut favorites alongside Kansas.
The Jayhawks and Blue Devils were the only ones who hosted the 6-foot-9, 220-pound phenom for an official visit. Both of those trips occurred in the past three months.
And although Duke was relatively late to the race with its offer in mid-June, it's been evident that head coach Jon Scheyer and his crew have since made Flory Bidunga, one of only two undecided 2024 centers on their official wishlist, a top priority.

However, given the reported adjusted timeline, Scheyer & Co. may need to keep the pedal to the metal for a few more weeks if they hope to lock up his commitment.
